No Apple FaceTime In The UAE And Qatar

Reports are in that Apple’s freshly-launched iPhone 4 in Qatar and the UAE won’t support FaceTime, Apple’s video-calling feature. Apparently the feature is missing from phones sold at UAE carriers Etisalat and du, not to mention Vodafone Qatar. FaceTime was initially advertised on Middle Eastern versions of the iPhone 4 until around September 20th. Some users who purchased the iPhone from abroad and tested it on local networks found that FaceTime initially worked, but the functionality was removed when the local version of the iOS 4.1 update was installed. Apparently Vodafone and Etisalat are already talking to Apple to reinstate FaceTime, but the reason for the exclusion of FaceTime wasn’t immediately available.
