Zillow + Apple SharePlay

If you’ve ever tried to search for homes online, there is a good chance that you might have used or come across Zillow’s platform. The good news is that if you’re shopping for a home and want an opinion, or if you want to browse homes together with family members, friends, or roommates, Zillow has announced that their iOS app now supports SharePlay.

For those unfamiliar, SharePlay is a new iOS feature that basically allows users to do certain tasks together over other iOS features such as FaceTime. For example, you can watch movies together and have the movies sync up so that you’re watching the same scene at the same time. It also works with music streaming, and now Zillow’s update lets users browse the app together.

According to David Beitel, Zillow chief technology officer, “Whether you’re shopping for a home or a rental, this new feature makes it easier and a lot more fun. The ability to browse together on separate mobile phones allows people to take their Zillow surfing to the next level. It’s also a great new way for real estate agents to connect with customers and guide them in their home-shopping journeys.”

It is admittedly kind of a novel feature to have, but if you’re looking for homes for purchase or rent and your partner is away, this will let you browse homes together virtually in real-time, instead of sending messages or emails and waiting for a response. The update should already be live so make sure you have the latest version of the Zillow app and the latest version of iOS installed on your iPhone or iPadOS for your iPad.
