The Lum concept device is pretty useful for home safety, as it’s a smoke alarm/detector that can be fastened to your normal light bulb socket, after which the bulb will be screwed into it as normal. It draws energy from the power socket as any electrical device would, and when it detects smoke, it will trigger an alarm, not to mention power the bulb for emergency lighting. Seems like a very discreet smoke alarm that will come in useful in real world situations. Does your current smoke detector suddenly seem very boring?
