LG Teams Up With VMware To Put Mobile Virtualization Software On Devices

LG has teamed up with VMware to make its phones more attractive to the corporate sector by offering VMware’s mobile virtualization software on some of its Android-powered phones. Such a move would allow IT departments to install a second profile that is more secure in order to access enterprise networks. It would go some way to competing against RIM’s popular BlackBerry devices that feature a secure enterprise server connection that is popular in the corporate scene. The software will allow users to revert back to their personal profiles after working hours and if the experiment goes well, LG might even offer VMware on other platforms, possibly Windows Phone 7.
