A new demo of Microsoft’s upcoming Avatar Kinect service for the Microsoft Kinect has been released, showcasing the latest developments in the facial mapping technology. From the video, we can see that the Kinect’s facial mesh will be able to map the user’s face in order to create fully expressive and a realistic speaking animation in the game. The Avatar Kinect was a major announcement for Microsoft at CES 2011 and the video after the jump shows the Kinect’s generated 3D mesh tracking a user’s movements and applying them to the Xbox Avatar in real time, which is pretty cool.
