Smart Cover magnets

If you’ve purchased an iPad 2 last week, you probably would’ve gotten a Smart Cover for the device as well. If I’m not mistaken when you played around with the cover, you’ve probably wondered – why is the Smart Cover is so smart? The folks at iFixit gave it a well-deserved teardown and discovered why it works so well. The Smart Cover packs a whopping total of 21 magnets within its folds. These magnets allow you to easily fold the cover into a stable triangle as well as affix sturdily to your iPad 2. In addition to being a mount/case for your iPad, the magnets are used to trigger sensors on the iPad 2 to activate/deactivate sleep mode. Head here to check out the Smart Cover teardown if you don’t dare to put your own Smart Cover under the knife.
