Apple offers free repairs for products damaged in the Japan disasters

Even though it’s been awhile since the Japan disasters, efforts to help out the country and to improve its citizens’ lives haven’t ceased. Folks still need their homes repaired, equipment fixed and or replaced. While most companies are involved by having fundraising events where the money made is sent to the Red Cross society, Apple is taking a different approach to the situation.

Instead of just offering money like any other company, Apple has decided to lend a hand by offering free repairs to selected Apple products that have been damaged in the disaster. The act of kindness which lasts until June 30 2011 will cover Mac computers, Cinema Displays, and iOS devices – the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Unfortunately gadgets like the iPod classic, iPod nano and iPod shuffle are excluded.

The repair campaign will be restricted to folks who live in municipalities covered by the Disaster Relief Act of 2011. Apple will even pick up the equipment and send it back when the repairs are complete. Talk about going all out. They are also offering free AppleCare Service & Support Line for folks who can solve the problems over the phone. If you know anybody who could benefit from such a service, don’t hesitate to inform them.
