Blizzard is a company that has come up with plenty of memorable titles in the past, what with their highly addictive Diablo series of CRPGs that brought the hack and slash genre to new heights, while the Starcraft series has spawned plenty of new Internet lexicons and pro-gaming stars in their own right. Well, after the fever of Starcraft II, it makes perfect sense for Diablo III to take centerstage – with Blizzard president Michael Morhaime reporting that internal testing of the upcoming dungeon crawler has started, and a beta version for external testing is tipped for a Q3 2011 release.

According to Morhaime, “I am pleased to report that we began internal company-wide testing last week. The game is looking great, and we are currently targeting a Q3 launch for external beta testing.”

Morhaime was coy about the game’s full launch though, although he did offer a glimpse of hope that it will be out before 2011 makes an exit, although we are sure that with Blizzard being the perfectionists that they are, they will make sure all the relevant details are down to pat before rolling it out to the masses.
