Motion controllers are still the hottest gaming peripherals on the scene right now. Nintendo is still pushing its Wii Remote and will incorporate them into his Wii U controller, Sony is plowing ahead with its Move and Microsoft with its Kinect. Things are still hot.

In a recent interview with, SCE Studios Mike Hocking said that Sony believes that virtual reality will make a return. Hocking was there to promote the new head-mounted display the company was working on, but offered a few kind words on VR.

“We’ve now got the power to do it, we’ve got the screen resolution to do it, we’ve got the processing power to update fast enough so we can have very immersive experiences on head-mounted displays in gaming in the not too distant future.

“Being in a virtual world where I can see my virtual hands or a virtual gun with all the things we can do in the gaming world is going to be absolutely amazing,” he added.

So in essence, Sony wants to pick up where VR left in the 1980s. I’m not sure gamers would be down with wearing headgear to play their favorite games, but it certainly isn’t out of the question, after all, 3D is making a return. How do you feel about VR? Pass or not?
