You know that a price drop can only mean one thing – to boost up sales of that particular device (or console, in this case). Official word has it that Nintendo will slash the price of their Nintendo 3DS to just $169.99 – which is a massive drop from the lofty $249.99 (33%!) perch. Other regions will also receive a similar percentage drop in their local currency. For those who have already purchased the portable gaming console recently, fret not – folks based in the US will be able to receive 10 free NES virtual console games this September – as long as they have logged into the eShop at least once prior to the price cut.

That is not all, you will also receive a similar amount of Game Boy Advance virtual console games before the end of the year – and these are special since Nintendo do not plan to release these to the general public. Perhaps this might just give the Nintendo 3DS a jump start in its sales figures and make Reggie smile again. [Press Release]
