The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray has been announced back in June at the CommunicAsia 2011 event in Singapore and the unit was shipping in some countries this summer.

Today, Sony Ericsson announced that the XPeria ray is now available unlocked in the U.S. for $424.99 at newegg.com and other online retailers.

The XPeria ray looks like the XPeria Arc with a smaller  display, and, just like the Arc, it features an Exmor R sensor known for its good performance in low light conditions. The unit packs a 8.1 megapixels camera in a sleek and slim aluminum body, the phone is only 9.4 mm thick and weight 100 grams (iPhone4 -9.3 mm for 137 grams).

The 3.3 inch scratch resistant Reality display (854 x 480) features the Mobile BRAVIA Engine that renders beautiful visuals, accroding to Sony Ericsson.

The Xperia ray, powered by a 1GHz processor runs Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), it comes with a 4GB microSD card, (expandable up to 32 GB) and is available in 4 colors, gold, black, white and pink. Sony Ericsson offers its own Facebook integration, Facebook Inside Xperia for easier social media interaction. Check the Sony Ericsson video above to see the features in action.
