ShadowgunWhile tablets are still have a long way to go before they can replace our regular gaming consoles, they’re definitely headed in the right direction. The folks over at HDblog.it recently turned their Acer Iconia Tab A500 into a gaming system with the help of an Xbox 360 controller and an HDMI-cable connected to a 40″ Samsung TV. Their game of choice? The recently released Shadowgun.

The game definitely looks as good as it does on the tablet and on the TV, but there is some noticeable lag. Other than that, the novelty of being able to use a USB controller combined with HDMI output makes the idea of gaming with a console much more compelling. While people have predicted that tablets will be the end of desktop computers, could they spell doom for TV consoles as well? Check out the video demo for yourself:
