BlackBerry Packager for Android tell-all video

I guess if there is one positive that you can take from the BlackBerry PlayBook, it would be this – the PlayBook has yet to take the same exit as that of the HP TouchPad. While the hardware is built solid, it seems as though this tablet from RIM has failed to enter the mainstream consciousness, and will not be emulating the BlackBerry range of smartphones’ successes anytime soon. Still, that doesn’t mean the PlayBook is in development limbo, as we have a BlackBerry Packager for Android video available for you right after the jump.

In this video from RIM, it tells of a quick summary for its new BlackBerry Packager for Android, which more or less enables Android developers to port their apps over to the PlayBook platform through the simple conversion of APK files to the BAR file format. The clip also goes on to say that you as a developer, will first need to obtain your signature keys from BlackBerry’s Developer Zone prior to undertaking any porting or development.

From thence, you will have to check your current app’s compatibility with the PlayBook. Should everything be peaches and cream, just click “repackage and submit,” and the system will sign and package it automatically.
