[CES 2012] The D-Link All-in-One Mobile Companion, also known as the DIR-505 if your brain can better connect and identify with strange model numbers and names, will be able to deliver instant wireless access as long as there is an existing WiFi network which is available. This new portable device will also come with USB sharing capabilities, paving yet another avenue among many to share your favorite videos, music and photos from an external storage device like a hard drive or USB flash drive to any iPad, iPhone or Android device. Not only that, if you are going to synchronize your files with your smartphones from the D-Link All-in-One Mobile Companion, D-Link decided to throw in the ability to juice up the tethered smartphones at the same time.Interestingly enough, D-Link engineers have managed to keep the size down – making it smaller than that of the average computer mouse. With the potential to deliver instant Wi-Fi alongside a range of useful features that were specially designed for today’s mobile professional, we see this device occupy a rather niche market. There is easy one-touch Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to get you up and running in a jiffy, while the free SharePort Cloud app for both Android and iOS devices opens up access to videos, music and photos from anywhere. At least it comes with a built-in AC plug, doing away with the need for you to tote around an extra power cable. No idea on pricing though, but drop by D-Link’s booth at CES to check it out.
