Infinity Blade makes over $30 million in 2011

Infinity BladeIf you thought that Angry Birds is the only successful game on iOS devices, you’re going to be in for a surprise. In an official press release, Chair Entertainment, the creators of Infinity Blade announced that they racked up over $30 million from sales of the original Infinity Blade in addition to its sequel: Infinity Blade 2 that was released in 2011, and other games based on the IP such as the digital novel, original soundtrack release and the arcade version of the game.

But what’s probably the most important aspect of this report is that the game is iOS only and can manage to be this successful. Sure they’ve got one arcade version of the game, but the core aspect of the game is only on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch – it is nowhere to be found on Android and Windows Phone or even on Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft consoles. Sure, most companies aren’t willing to do such a thing, but this proves that if a game has a winning recipe, iOS alone has more than enough paying customers to ensure its success.
