Word on the street has it that an untethered iPhone 4S jailbreak is already on its way, and will be released to the masses in a few days’ time. pod2g is the man behind this attempt, where the iOS community would be indebted to him for his new jailbreak tools that are capable of supporting both the latest hardware and iOS revision. Previously, classic devices did not require that complicated a tool, but Apple’s new A5 chips are a far more difficult nut to crack, residing in more work – although it seems that even that has paid off already. After all, there is always safety in numbers, and pod2g decided to recruit some of the biggest names from over the years in the iOS world to assist him in his mission, and recently posted an update of their progress.

One of the latest milestones would be arriving at the part where code execution is capable of escaping the iPhone’s sandbox restrictions, and pod2g is pretty optimistic that there will be no more major hiccups coming his way any more. Of course, no promises are made in concrete, but it should just be a matter of days now.
