Siri does Japanese language now?

Siri says the darndest things – or so some of us like to believe, and here we are with word that Siri, the voice recognition service of the iPhone 4S, is now able to communicate in Japanese. There were previous rumors of added language support for Siri for some time already, and despite the fact that the Japanese language has yet to be supported officially just yet, it is effective – to a certain extent, of course. I am quite sure that there will be bloopers along the way, but it will probably perform with a certain degree of dignity.

Siri currently does English, with UK and Australian dialect versions in the market, in addition to French and German as well. Apple did mention that they will be throwing in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian and Spanish support sometime this year, although nothing official has been released just yet. While you can set language preferences in the iOS 5 settings, Japanese is not on the menu at the moment.
