So you’re hosting a dinner party for four, when unexpectedly two more guests turn up. Instead of being rude and turning them away, you decide to invite them in and have them join your dinner party. Unfortunately your table is equipped to handle four people – what do you do? Well if own the Astrolab dining table by Roche Bobois, that will not be an issue. As you might have surmised from the photo above, the Astrolab dining table is a mechanized table that has the ability to extend an extra foot or two, allowing you to add a couple more chairs to the dining table.

It features a see-through glass top that showcases the gears moving in action as the additional glass panels slide outwards from either end. It looks pretty awesome not to mention a pretty good idea too, plus with its design we have a feeling it will play nicely in homes that have a modernist interior design. We’re not sure if you can actually buy the Astrotable, but head on down to Roche Bobois’ website for more photos or check out the video below to see the table in action.
