Today, T-Mobile announced that the HTC Sensation 4G devices that are running on its network will receive the software upgrade that will bump the OS up to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. The upgrade will be available as an ‘optional download’ beginning on May 16. In addition to that, T-Mobile also updated the support documents for the HTC Amaze 4G stating that its upgrade will be coming to users over the “coming weeks” but unlike the Sensation 4G, the Amaze doesn’t have a fixed date yet. That said however, the update list for new features and improvements seems to be identical for both devices.

Beginning May 16, an optional update will be available for the Sensation 4G to update to the latest operating system, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). You can choose to download the update to Android 4.0.3 by following the software update steps.

Note: HTC Sensation 4G will be required to add Wi-Fi mobile Hotspot feature in order to use the service after completing this update. You can add the feature online at or by calling customer care.

The update to Ice Cream Sandwich will include the features and improvements listed below:

Version – Android 4.0.3 / Software version 3.32.531.14710RD

New Features – Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC Sense 3.6, System bar enhancements to easily view recent apps, re-sizeable widgets, lock screen actions including pull down notifications and adjust volume while device is locked, data usage controls, face unlock, home screen folders, improved battery life and Wi-Fi mobile hotspot which has to be re-added online or by calling customer care after the update is complete.

Improvements – Improved text input, spell checking and menu structure.

With regards to the HTC Amaze 4G, the same changes, updates, new features and fixes can be expected but as for its release date, there is still nothing confirmed. However, given the fact that T-Mobile has acknowledged the HTC Amaze 4G, it can’t be that far off in the horizon. As for those of you who will receive the software update on your HTC Sensation 4G from T-Mobile on May 16, we are ecstatic for you.
