Skype might have some competition on their hands with the introduction of Rebtel, a Windows Phone app which is said to offer cheap and affordable international VoIP calling. Of course, this is not Rebtel’s maiden foray into the VoIP arena, as they have already catered to iPhone, Android, iPad, and Android tablet users in the past. Second in size after Skype where the mobile VoIP market is concerned, Rebtel for Windows Phone is available for free over at the Windows Marketplace, where anyone is capable of making high quality cheap international calls to their contacts using Rebtel’s local number network which is available in over 50 countries.

“Today, we are thrilled to take the next step towards offering the most comprehensive suite of mobile apps for low-cost international calling by announcing Rebtel for Windows Phone. The app lets users realize huge savings of up to 98% and takes advantage of your wireless plan’s minutes to connect calls instead of a Wi-Fi or 3G connection,” says Andreas Bernström, CEO atRebtel.

Apart from cheap calls to anyone, there is also native Address Book integration so that you need not mess around with your address book or look up obscure names that your memory has trouble trying to remember. Apart from that, there is also the low-cost SMS ability for you to send text messages to your contacts in more than 170 countries, letting you save on average of up to 60% compared to what the regular operator charges. You can download the app here.
