webOS Like Fate Predicted For Windows RT

We consistently hear how manufacturers are not reportedly seeing any value in creating devices for Windows RT. Such reports and analysis come in almost every other week. A new Digitimes report claims that perhaps Windows RT will suffer a fate similar to webOS, because according to its upstream supply sources many brand vendors have stopped developing products based on this platform. According to the same sources, Microsoft has a 1% share in tablet and 3% share in smartphone market, which is an indicator of slow growth.

Recently we have seen Microsoft take a number of steps to increase consumer interest in Surface RT tablets, its own Windows RT offering. Prices of this tablet were slashed in Japan, special discounts were announced for students and Microsoft will even be bundling Outlook in Windows RT, but even all of this hasn’t been able to bring in a large number of customers. Microsoft is not reportedly giving up on Windows RT soon, the next generation Surface RT tablet is rumored to be released in the next couple of months. Its said to have a Qualcomm processor and presumably even 4G LTE.
