We’ve all read on countless rumors regarding a new Nexus 7 tablet. Alleged photos of the device have been leaked online, we’ve also heard details about the specifications it is expected to tout. As of now there’s no word from Google that they’re indeed coming out with a new Nexus 7 tablet. Staples today slashed the prices on both 16GB and 32GB models of the Google tablet, leading many to believe that perhaps it is clearing inventory ahead of a possible announcement of the new variant.

You can now pick up the Nexus 7 16GB for $179.99 and the 32GB for $199.99 from Staples, the prices are valid in brick-and-mortar stores as well as online. The price cut amounts to a $50 and $20 discount when compared to Google Play store prices for the 32GB and 16GB models, respectively. There’s an added benefit for customers with a Discover card, they can avail an additional 5 percent off these slashed prices through the ShopDiscover service at Staples. Its definitely a good deal to consider if you’ve been wanting to pick up a new Nexus 7 tablet, those who have been following the rumors of a new Nexus 7 are likely to exercise restraint.
