iphone_5s_unlockedFor a while Apple has been selling the iPhone 5s via their online stores, although the caveat is that you’d have to buy it locked to any of the major carriers and sign a new two-year deal with the company. Well the good news is that if you were thinking about picking up an iPhone 5s for yourself but don’t want to be tied to a contract for whatever reason, you might be interested to learn that Apple is now selling SIM-free iPhone 5s units via their online store.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the price of the phones are significantly higher than on contract, and customers would have to pay $649 for the 16GB model, $749 for the 32GB model, and $849 for the 64GB model. Interestingly enough it seems that while the shipping times for carrier-locked iPhone 5s units are at 3-5 days, the SIM-free models have shipping times set at 1-2 weeks. We’re not sure why this is the case, it could be that Apple had allocated a certain amount of units for carriers, but if you wanted a SIM-free iPhone 5s, you’d be in for a relatively short wait. As stated on the website, these unlocked units have the model number A1533 and are only compatible with GSM networks.
