It has already been rumored more than a few times that Samsung is going to focus a lot more on tablets in 2014. We have constantly been hearing about the company’s rumored plans which will only be known for sure when official announcements are made. When has that ever stopped the rumor mill from churning though? According to the infamous Taiwanese trade publication, citing upstream supply chain sources as always, Samsung is going to “flood” the market with new tablets in 2014.

It is expected to offer various models in 7, 8, 10 and 12 inch display sizes. Samsung is also rumored to price its new 7 inch tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, at $129 in order to attract more potential customers. Being the second largest tablet vendor in 2013, behind Apple which shipped 70.1 million tablets, Samsung undoubtedly has its sights set on the top slot. While it was only able to move 33.9 million tablets last year, the new offerings might improve its chances this year, particularly the low cost models. Rumor has it that Samsung will be producing much of the components and handling assembly in-house so as to reduce production costs. The new tablets are expected to be divided into three categories, entry level, mid-range and high-end, and may start showing up within the next few months.
