Times are hard, but after reading about this, you might be thankful that you have a roof over your head, not to mention a job to go to in the morning. Apparently, struggling Britons have already placed an offer on Facebook to sell their kidneys. Yes sir, those who are in dire straits have actually turned to social network Facebook as a medium of advertisement for their organs, with a price set up to £30,000 a pop – without taking into consideration the various medical and legal risks involved. This is no doubt an offence under the Human Tissue Act to buy or even advertise organs for sale in the UK, which means whoever does this on Facebook could be looking at the possibility of spending some time in the slammer.
A 22-year-old from Northampton did offer up his kidney for £20,000 , since he needs to head back to Hungary with his pregnant fiancé, while others have charged a fee that is 10 grand more than that. We have seen some people go to great lengths to sell some of their bodily parts, virginity (although this is not exactly a body part per se) included, to obtain some of Apple’s latest devices, so to hear that Britons who are in a difficult financial position at this point in time being willing to sell off one of their kidneys on Facebook is not something that is surprising.
