Good news gamers, if you were planning on getting your hands on Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U when it is released on the 30th of May, you might be interested to learn that Nintendo has recently announced a limited edition version of the game.

This is basically the same version of the game that other gamers can look forward to, although the main difference here is that the limited edition version will come with a real life Spiny Shell! According to the video above, the shell looks more like a miniature toy as opposed to something a little larger, like a plushie, but we’re guessing fans will still be pretty happy about it.

However as it stands, the pricing of the game will be pegged at £60 and it will be released alongside the standard version of the game as well. Unfortunately the price given was quoted in GBP, so we’re not sure how much Nintendo might be asking for stateside, assuming the limited edition version of the game arrives stateside as well.

As we’re sure many gamers have heard, the Wii U isn’t doing so great. Recently polled developers have revealed that not many of them are particularly interested in developing for the Wii U platform. However Nintendo is known for their great first-party titles, and Mario Kart 8 is one of the titles that gamers have been looking forward to.

Perhaps with the launch of the game and followed by Super Smash Bros. later in the year, Nintendo might begin to see some success with the Wii U console. In the meantime who else is looking forward to Mario Kart 8?
