windows-phone-8.1-custom-backgrounds

Microsoft hasn’t revealed many details about Windows Phone 8.1, but already we have heard quite a bit about it, thanks in part to a developer to apparently had access to the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK. It is expected that Microsoft’s next major mobile platform update will finally bring the ability to add custom backgrounds to the Start screen. We had only heard of this feature previously, now screenshots have emerged in which the implementation of this feature is pictured.

Originating from a Weibo account in China, these pictures show just how the Live Tiles will be skinned when the user opts to change the Start screen’s background with a one of their liking. Since the screen can be set to offer a transparent look, users will be able to put any image behind the Live Tiles, which together will form the custom background.

However, as it stands, the authenticity of these screenshots can not be confirmed at this point in time. Even though Microsoft has dropped a few hints about what to expect from Windows Phone 8.1, it hasn’t mentioned as yet if users will have the ability to add custom backgrounds to the Start screen. To know for sure we’ll have to wait at least until the company’s BUILD conference next month, where it is expected to shed some more light on Windows Phone 8.1.
