netflix-logoNetflix, the extremely popular video service, intends to expand their market territory all the way into the European heartland, having drawn up a list of another half dozen countries that will hopefully contribute in a meaningful manner to its coffers in terms of subscribers before the year is over.

Netflix’s foray into the Old World has seen a relatively slow start since the last two years, kicking off first in the UK, Denmark and the Scandinavian countries back in 2012, before following up on its act in the Netherlands. I suppose the executives over at Netflix know something that none of us do, and are looking forward to move forward in a major expansion.

The eventual countries that will see its inhabitants gain access to Netflix would include the likes of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg. So far, no exact launch date has been announced, and there is every possibility of this being a staggered release with some folks receiving access before the rest. Apart from that, with recent word of Netflix being decoupled from Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, this ought to make fans of the company carve a wider smile. For those living in the aforementioned countries, are you excited yet? [Press Release]
