The SunJack Is A Portable Solar Charger For Your Gadgets

sunjackWe’ve seen portable solar chargers in the past, although some of them are quite small which means that they’re not as efficient at gathering enough energy compared to bigger ones. The upside is that they’re portable. Well if you wanted to do your bid for the environment by using solar energy to charge your devices, perhaps the SunJack solar charger could be a Kickstarter worth investing in.

The SunJack is essentially an array of solar cells that can be bundled up and taken with you on the go. It folds up like a laptop sleeves meaning that you can tuck it under your arm to bring it with you on camping trips, to the beach, business events, and so on. When you’re ready to get it juiced up, all you’d have to do is unfold it, place it in the sun and you’re good to go!

The SunJack comes in two different sizes – a 14 watt model that will be able to power four iPhones and will charge in 5 hours under the sun; a 20 watt model that will also be able to fully charge itself under the sun in 5 hours, and should be enough to power 8 iPhones. The battery pack of the SunJack even comes with a built-in flashlight, so you can use it to find your way around a camp site at night or in emergency situations where you might have run out of battery.

According to its creators, what makes the SunJack so different from the competition would be its proprietary USB port and their lithium-polymer battery, which they’ve managed to figure out how to fill it up with energy from the sunlight more efficiently. They claim that this will allow users to charge their devices as fast as they would from wall outlets, albeit in a greener and more portable method.

The SunJack sounds like a pretty good product for those love the great outdoors, but love their gadgets as well. If you’d like to learn more or pledge a donation, head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
