google fitAccording to a report from a few days ago, it was rumored that Google could be unveiling a health-related feature at Google I/O later in the month. The feature was rumored to be called Google Fit and it supposedly shared similarities to Apple’s HealthKit and Samsung’s SAMI, where it would help aggregate health-related data from other fitness apps or devices.

However according to the folks at Android Police, they have uncovered additional information which revealed that the feature could be known as Google Play Fitness, not Google Fit. In some way it makes more sense since it would be in line with the naming scheme of Google’s other products, like Google Play Music, Google Play Books, and so on.

They have also uncovered information from a leaked system dump that revealed that Android Wear would be used in conjunction with Google Play Fitness. As per our previous report, we had speculated that there was a chance that Android Wear could be somehow linked to this new health service that Google has in mind.

After all with OEMs like LG and Motorola creating Android Wear products, why wouldn’t Google want take advantage of the fact that both devices are powered by Android Wear, right? The exact synergy between Android Wear and Google Play Fitness remains unknown for now, but with Google I/O taking place next week, we guess we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
