iOS 8 Split-Screen Multitasking Shown Off On Video

According to earlier rumors, there was talk about how iOS 8 could introduce split-screen multitasking, but unfortunately that feature did not make it to Apple’s presentation at WWDC. Assuming earlier reports were right, Apple is not done with iOS 8 yet and could be releasing features with a later update, instead choosing to focus on completing OS X 10.10 Yosemite on time first.

That being said if you’re wondering how the split-screen multitasking works, you’re in luck because thanks to developer Steven Troughton-Smith, he has managed to upload a video showing off how it works. We should point out that the video doesn’t necessarily show the multitasking working on iOS, but is instead running on an iOS 8 iPad Simulator.

This means we won’t know what it will be like in real life, but you can get an idea of how it will work. Troughton-Smith discovered the feature in the iOS 8 SDK but has yet to unlock all of its functionality, but at the very least we know that Apple has been testing it, and whether it will make it into iOS 8’s release later this fall or in a separate update remains to be seen.

We should also point out that there is a good chance that this might not necessarily be the final version of the feature, so try not to get your hopes up just yet or be disappointed with what you see, but hopefully Apple will show it off in the near future.
