Windows Phone users who also happen to be fans of Pinterest have something to be happy about today. The official Pinterest for Windows Phone application has been released today. The release was confirmed by Windows Phone boss Joe Belfiore, who would no doubt be happy about the fact that the app gap is gradually closing on Microsoft’s mobile platform.

Those of you who don’t know what Pinterest is, though its hard to imagine any internet user being unaware of its existence, it basically lets users create virtual scrapbooks to which they can “pin” stuff. It can be imagines, links to favorite web pages, basically anything and everything of interest to the user.

Pinterest also focuses on making the whole experience social. So users can share their pinboards with each other and are also able to browse pins from millions of other users. Its great for discovering new content and productions related to the things you’re truly interested in.

The official Pinterest for Windows Phone application has been launched today in beta. What this means is that some of the features that users expect might not be available in the app for now. However it shouldn’t take too long for the app to get out of beta. Its available for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 powered devices on the Windows Phone Store.
