Prior to E3 2014 it was rumored that a new Tomb Raider title might be unveiled at the conference. That rumor turned out to be true. During Microsoft’s press conference the official trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider was showed off. Its going to make its way to the Xbox One next year as well as the PlayStation 4 and PC. Square Enix didn’t say if its going to be compatible with previous-gen consoles as well but apparently Amazon thinks so. The retailer has already listed Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS3 and Xbox 360 for pre-order.

Even though we were given a sneak peek at the next Tomb Raider title during E3 2014 it was never actually revealed exactly when the game will be released. We only have the vague timeframe of the 2015 holiday season. So it can’t be said for sure right now if Rise of the Tomb Raider release will take place around the same time for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

This title is a sequel to last year’s Tomb Raider reboot which performed well on both consoles. A follow-up for previous-gen consoles would certainly make sense but Square Enix didn’t talk about that possibility, it only boasted how the series has now moved on to the next-generation version of Lara Croft.

Square Enix has not commented on this yet, so there’s no confirmation if Rise of the Tomb Raider is indeed planned for PS3 and Xbox 360. Amazon may have jumped the gun once again.
