destiny

Last month Bungie went ahead with Destiny’s beta on PlayStation and Xbox. As gamers took the much awaited title for a spin many of them started asking whether or not it would be possible to transfer all of the progress they have made to the final version. Bungie has confirmed through an official blog post that Destiny beta progress will not be transferable.

Gamers had no doubt hoped that Bungie would allow them to take their characters forward, particularly since the developer was quiet on this question after it released the beta. The final answer is here and its not going to change, unfortunately all those hours put in the beta won’t be of any use when the game finally launches for everyone.

Tyson Green, a designer at Bungie, explains that they have continued to tune and adjust the game since the beta was pushed out. Items have been added and removed, and the way players experienced the game has been adjusted. Even though there’s no monumental change, “the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”

Fortunately though this is the last time that Destiny players are forced to abandon their characters. Once the game finally launches on September 9th, players can keep their characters around for as long as they want.
