internet celebritiesWhile we reckon it is still valid, there are many out there who would get excited at seeing a celebrity actor or musician. After all there are some who would love to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. However thanks to the internet and YouTube, just about anyone can create a video and upload it online, thus resulting in a new breed of celebrities – YouTube celebrities.

That being said, interestingly enough it has been found that out of the most influential figures amongst Americans aged 13-18, the top five chosen are actually YouTube personalities. The survey was conducted by Variety and if anything, it seems to suggest that internet personalities might actually be more famous than your typical celebrity, at least amongst the younger generation.

The top five influential figures include Smosh, The Fine Bros., PewDiePie, KSI, and Ryan Higa. Other online personalities that made the top 20 include Shane Dawson, Jenna Marbles, Michelle Phan, Ray William Johnson, and Bethany Mota. Now before you pooh and pah these internet personalities, it should be pointed out that PewDiePie, rakes in a cool $4 million a year.

That’s a lot of money that someone his age is making, and is probably a lot more than some actors and musicians as well. There’s probably a ton of hard work involved into getting this famous, but hey if acting isn’t your thing, perhaps becoming an internet personality could pay the bills!
