iPhone 6 Leaked Schematic May Hint At NFC

Ever since it was unveiled back in 2007 the iPhone has never had NFC or Near Field Communication. This technology has been adopted by most of its Android rivals yet Apple has not succumbed to demands from consumers for NFC. We heard rumors earlier this year that perhaps the iPhone 6 may finally bring this technology and a leaked iPhone 6 schematic that’s making the rounds today may hint at this possibility.

It the very same set of schematics that has been cited in many reports today as a hint of 1GB RAM for iPhone 6. If this turns out to be true then it appears Apple would not be increasing the amount of RAM in its next generation smartphones, even though many Android flagships have more than 2GB RAM.

The leaked schematic includes “PN65V” model number which correlates to a NFC chip developed by NXP Corp. The company already develops NFC chips for a variety of other smartphone manufacturers. It already has a relationship with Apple as it provides the M7 coprocessor that was introduced with the iPhone 5s.

It merits mentioning here that this is far from an official confirmation. The source where the schematics come from has a hit or miss track record so do keep an open mind, only Apple knows for sure what the next generation iPhone is hiding under the hood.
