LG Largest Display Supplier For iPhone 6 [Report]

A new report out of China suggests that LG has taken the lead from Sharp, Japan Display and Samsung. The Korean company will reportedly be the largest provider of display panels for the iPhone 6. While Apple is expected to divvy up the orders between multiple suppliers to ensure it has flexibility in the supply chain, if this report is indeed true, then LG would be the one dealing with the bulk of all orders.

I should point out though that this report doesn’t clarify if LG will be leading shipments for 4.7-inch iPhone 6 displays or if it will be provided most of the panels for Apple’s significantly larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6.

Recently it was claimed that both Sharp and Samsung have lost out on Apple’s display orders for its next generation iPhones and that instead the remaining orders will be fulfilled by Taiwan’s Innolux. Since Apple doesn’t comment on market speculation or reports about its supply chain, it is difficult to independently confirm these rumors and reports.

So far it is believed that Apple is going to unveil the new iPhones on September 9th. Both new models may be thinner and lighter than their predecessors, but the consensus in the rumor mill is on larger displays, it seems that iPhone fans who have been waiting for the display size to be increased may finally see their wishes being fulfilled.
