gionee-elife51-guinnessJust in case you didn’t know, slim is in. Just take a look at the different kinds of flat screen TVs, tablets and smartphones that are in the market, and you will get a better idea of what I mean. After all, having something slim is deemed to be a thing of beauty, and when it comes to smartphones, nothing is able to usurp the Gionee Elife S5.1 at the moment, as it carries the mantle of the world’s slimmest smartphone, measuring a paltry 5.1mm (0.2”) thin. Of course, all of that trumpeting would amount to nothing if you do not have the proper documentation to show off, and the Guinness World Records has certified that the Gionee Elife S5.1 is indeed, the thinnest smartphone in the world.

It might be some time before another device takes over its mantle, don’t you think so? After all, with smartphones packing in quite a number of hardware capabilities these days, it makes perfect sense for a smartphone to actually be thicker in essence so that it can cram in all the relevant electronics within.

Just to recap, the Gionee Elife S5.1 will feature a 4.8” Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels, a 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera, an 8MP shooter at the back, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a 2,100 mAh battery to keep it going. It remains a China-only handset for now just in case you were wondering.
