Earlier this month, HTC sent out invites to their “Double Exposure” event which is taking place on the 8th of October. Based on the name of the event alone, it is likely that we could be looking at some kind of photography-related announcement. There have been rumors that suggested that HTC could unveil some kind of rugged camera accessory which would be odd as HTC is known primarily for their mobile devices.

Well thanks to a new teaser video that HTC has uploaded, it looks like those rumors could be true. Based on the video, it seems that the event could be based around some kind of action camera similar to the likes of the GoPro where it can be used for sports and could also be used underwater, something that divers might appreciate and want.

Also around the 0:03 mark, you can see the girl holding a device in her hand which could very well be the product in question. It’s a bit hard to make out the exact design, but it looks pretty small and compact, which once again reminds us of the GoPro series of action cameras. There is also a portion of the video shown in slow-mo which seems to hint that slow-mo video capture could be one of the camera’s capabilities.

Like we said it would be interesting to see HTC expand beyond smartphones, although how well their potential action camera will stack up against the competition remains to be seen. It is also unclear if this will be a completely separate product or if it will somehow be able to tie in with their smartphones, but do check back with us on the 8th of October for the details.
