Records are meant to be broken, that is for sure. After all, it gives everyone an aspiration to move from one level to another, and arcade gaming’s most famous all-time record has a brand new champion – namely, Robbie Lakeman. Robbie Lakeman managed this spectacular feat after he managed to eclipse the world high score for Donkey Kong by a margin of 3,200 points.

Robbie Lakeman’s vanquished “opponent”, Hank Chien, first made its way to the scene four years back in order to take control of the all-time Donkey Kong high score from his two nemesis, Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell. It took Lakeman approximately a quartet of hours to arrive at the 1,141,800 point count, where he then informed Chien personally that there is a new champion in town.

If you are interested, you will be able to check out the entire of Lakeman’s efforts in a video. It looks like this 33-year old game has a big time four way rivalry now, and if three’s a crowd, then what do you think about having four bitter rivals in the game now? Things are certainly heating up, and it would be interesting to see how much higher can the next high score be. [Press Release]
