Back in March this year Sony had announced that it will be creating original TV shows for PlayStation and also revealed that the first project will be called Powers. Since then work has been going on and now the company has finally shown off the first trailer for this original series. The trailer’s launch was timed with Comic Con in New York. Powers is a new original series which will be available for free to all PlayStation Plus members.

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, a studio that has hits like Breaking Bad to its name. Powers revolves around Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, two homicide detectives, that work on “cases that just so happen to involve people with extraordinary powers.”

Currently the show is being filmed under Charlie Huston, a well known crime novelist. Brian Bendis is the co-creator of the comic book that this show is based on and also the executive producer of Powers.

Later this year Sony’s first original TV show for PlayStation will be released in the U.S. PlayStation Plus members will be able to stream it for free through their consoles and it remains to be seen if any distribution deals are reached once the show has its initial run on the gaming console.
