Back in April this year Dropbox introduced a new app for iOS and Android. The Carousel app aimed to make it easier for users to sort and digitally store pictures, not only those that had previously been uploaded to Dropbox, but those taken through the smartphone’s camera as well. Today the Dropbox Carousel app has been updated, it finally gets native support for the iPad. A web version has also gone live which will allow users to access their photo storage through a web browser.

That’s not all. Dropbox has also confirmed that it is going to release a version of Carousel for Android tablets within two weeks, so we’ll keep an eye out for that.

There really are no major differences between the app on iPad as compared to iOS and Android. It has been scaled and designed to fit on the larger screen, while the functionality remains pretty much the same. All pictures that are viewed in Carousel are stored in Dropbox but it offers users a faster way to get to those photos without having to dig through their Dropbox account.

Dropbox Carousel’s updated version brings an improved grid view, conversations interface and lightbox, thus making it nicer to look at the pictures. The iPad app gets a landscape mode as well. The update adds integration with Instagram and WhatsApp to the iPhone app. This integration has already been available on Android for the past couple of weeks.
