So the other day we heard that there was a possibility that Blizzard could announce a new Hearthstone expansion. This is actually pretty fast considering the previous expansion is not even a year old but hey, why not? The Curse of Naxxramas was a pretty small expansion and we’re sure many gamers have since blown through all the content.

That being said, gamers will be pleased to learn that Blizzard has indeed announced a new Hearthstone expansion – Goblins vs Gnomes. This is different from what we had previously speculated which was “The Eye of Azshara” which was one of the trademarks Blizzard had filed for, so we guess it looks like that trademark could be used for another game.

In any case according to the expansion’s description, “Goblins vs Gnomes throws players smack dab in the middle of a rivalry between cunning goblin engineers and their eternally-tinkering gnome counterparts. These pint-size foes don’t always have the upper hand over the myriad mechanical contraptions they cook up, and the results can be . . . unpredictable.”

As mentioned previously by Blizzard, the new expansion will feature over 120 new cards. Part of the new cards will also be a new minion type called Mechs, which for those familiar with World of Warcraft might recognize. If all of this sounds exciting, Blizzard has also announced that the expansion will be released this December, so keep an eye out for it!
