T-Mobile has made a series of innovative “un-carrier” moves over the past year and today it made the 8th such announcement. Data Stash was introduced today which eliminates the industry practice of not rolling forward unused mobile data at the end of the month. Data Stash protects unused mobile data so that it can be used at a later time, giving you the ability to get the most bang for your back, because you’ve already paid for that data.

Mobile data that you don’t use during the month will automatically be rolled into the Data Stash, where it will be secured and readily available for use for up to a year. This is offered at no extra charge to all existing and every new T-Mobile subscriber whether its an individual, family or business customer with an eligible postpaid Simple Choice plan where additional data is purchased for a smartphone or tablet.

To kick things off T-Mobile is giving away 10GB of 4G LTE data with every Data Stash, that’s free data for every line in the family as long as its on a qualifying plan. Subscribers who purchase additional 4G LTE data, 1GB or more for tablets and 3GB or more for smartphones will be eligible for data rolling forward.

There’s no limit on the amount of data that can be stored in Data Stash. It will be readily available for free and will keep data secure until such time that you have need of it. Data Stash starts in January 2015.
