Xperia-Z3-Xperia Z3-CompacWhile many had speculated that the Sony Xperia Z4 could be launched at CES 2015, the bad news is that it didn’t. However there is some good news and that is for Sony Xperia Z3 owners. If you were wondering when you might finally be able to get your hands on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, you won’t have to wait much longer.

Speaking at Sony’s press conference at CES, Sony’s COO Michael Fasulo revealed that the Xperia Z3 will finally be getting its Android 5.0 Lollipop update starting next month. Unfortunately Fasulo did not provide any specific dates, but we guess at least next month isn’t too far off and thankfully February isn’t a particularly long month either.

That being said we guess some Xperia Z3 owners are probably itching for the update seeing as other OEMs have begun to push out the updates for their phones. In the meantime the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition has begun receiving its update since last month and we guess for a flagship phone, we would have expected the update sooner.

Sony did promise a few months ago that their entire Xperia Z lineup would receive the Android 5.0 update, although when exactly this will happen remains to be seen. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for the update so do check back with us later for the details.
