[CES 2015] While drawing/writing on tablets and smartphones these days with a stylus is becoming more fluid and accurate, there are some who understandably would much prefer the old school method which is using a pen and a paper. However converting these drawings/writings into a digital format will take a couple of extra steps.

Well if you absolutely have to draw/write on paper but want to transfer it to your smartphone or tablet, you might be interested to learn about the Slate. The Slate is a device that allows users to place a piece of paper or a notebook on top of its surface and write/draw as per normal, with their drawings and writings being converted to digital in real-time.

The drawings will be sent to the accompanying iSketchnote app which allows the user to perform additional edits and changes, such as coloring it in, erasing parts they didn’t like, and adding on to it digitally if they wish. The final result can then be shared amongst friends and users can even create a video to replay the process of their work.

iSketchnote is also offering pens that have been optimized for the Slate and paper. The pens contain refillable cartridges and a permanent magnet ring that will supposedly help it glide smoother on paper. In terms of pricing, iSketchnote will be offering it up as a bundle where the customer can get the Slate, two pens, and a kickstand for $179.99 which will begin shipping later this year.
