Flip phones used to be pretty cool back in the day, although now that smartphones have largely dominated the market, users are now asking for larger screens if anything. However if there is at least one market that still seems to like their flip phones, it would be in Japan which is why companies such as Sharp have continuously put out such devices over the years.

The latest offering by Sharp comes in the form of the Aquos mini SHV31 which as you can see in the video above is a flip phone. The Aquos mini SHV31 will adopt the company’s EDGEST design which basically equates to bezels around its display to be as thin as possible, thus allowing Sharp to include a larger image without making the phone too big or bulky in the process.

The Aquos mini SHV31 will feature two displays. It will sport a 4.5-inch Full HD display on the outside, and a smaller display on the inside when the phone is flipped open. Under the hood the handset will be powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and will also come with a 13MP rear-facing camera.

According to Sharp, the phone will last users anywhere between 2-3 days thanks to Sharp’s use of IGZO display technology and its 2,120mAh battery. We reckon your mileage might vary depending on how you use your phone. Unfortunately there is no word on whether Sharp will launch the phone stateside, but in the meantime is the Sharp Aquos mini SHV31 a flip phone you might consider?
