android-5.0-lollipopIs Android 5.1 Lollipop in the works? Based on the evidence we’ve seen and also how it appeared on an Android One handset, it would certainly seem to suggest that the build is in the works and could be getting ready for a deployment, although the question is when can we expect Android 5.1 to be released?

In a tweet by HTC’s Mo Versi, it has been suggested that we might be able to look forward to the update in March, at least for those who run Google Nexus handsets. Versi was responding to a question from a user on Twitter regarding an update that addresses the capacitive buttons on the HTC One M7 Google Play Edition.

Versi replied by saying, “It’ll be tied to Google’s next MR, which is in March. Thanks.” Presumably “MR” is referring to a maintenance release which could very well be Android 5.1. Now it is possible that Versi could be talking about Android 5.0.2 which was never released for the HTC One M7 GPE, but he could have just said that instead of “MR”.

There is an alternate theory which is that HTC could be talking about another incremental update like Android 5.0.3, but so far we haven’t really seen any evidence for that particular build. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but here’s hoping that HTC was referring to Android 5.1.
