ivviAh, the world’s thinnest smartphone. This particular title does seem to be in demand, and it happens to be a monopoly among the Chinese handset manufacturers – for now, at least. After all, we have seen the Oppo R5 rise to prominence in this aspect in October last year, shortly before we had a whiff of the Vivo X5 Max that has dethroned the Oppo R5. Well, the Coolpad IVVI K1 intends to usurp both models, with a measurement of just 4.7mm in thickness.

That kind of measurement would make it beat the Vivo X5 Max’s 4.75mm thickness by a whisker, no doubt about it, although it can be rather difficult to see through the naked eye alone. Just what kind of hardware can a 4.7mm thin handset pack?

For starters, the Coolpad IVVI K1 will have a 4.7” display that is accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an 8MP camera at the back, a front-facing 5MP camera, with 4G LTE connectivity. It will also carry 1GB RAM and just 8GB of internal memory – which can be expanded via microSD, of course, making it more of a mid-range device than anything else. It will cost slightly more than a couple of Benjamins, and has a rather small 1,800mAh battery – no doubt due to the extremely limited space in the chassis.
