Wacky marketing stunts are nothing new. Sometimes they work and sometimes they just fail to get off the ground. Companies often go to great lengths to take shots at their competitors in the media. HTC’s latest marketing stunt is way, way out there. Its a rap video in which plenty of jabs are taken at both Apple and Samsung.

Cringeworthy is one word that you might use to describe this rap video, but it is what it is, an attempt on the company’s part to highlight its device and show just how superior it is than the iPhone and Galaxy smartphones.

P.M. Dawn’s Greg Carr a.k.a Doc G is delivering verse after verse praising HTC in this video which takes Apple to task for apparently taking inspiration from the HTC One M8’s unibody metal build.

Samsung gets equal treatment. “More than a few clowns stole what we originated,” one verse goes, “we own the universe, your Galaxy is overrated.”

Its hilarious, even if its not catchy at all, and a good way to kill 2 minutes and 23 seconds. If you’re intrigued about why HTC made this rap video to heap praise on the One M8 do take a look at the interview that HTC did with this rapper and later published online.
